Building a credit history using a secured credit card…?

Posted by: admin In: Best secured loans

What would be the best secured credit card for someone looking to build there credit? Bank of America through Visa is pretty much the only thing I can find that looks reasonable.

I have a question about how it works. Say the purchase APR is 14% and I but $100 in items at Best Buy, and come time to pay this off or even before the bill is due, I pay in full the $100, am I still getting charged the interest on an item I paid for already?

I just need to start building my credit now so in 10 years I have the credit to get a loan for a home, tell me what my best option is. Thanks a lot.

If you pay your bills in full there will be no credit charges.

Doing so on a regular basis will soon attract lenders to send you offers for unsecured credit, and if you pay them off as quickly you will be building an outstanding credit history.

If you pay your bill in full every month before the due date, you will not get charged interest unless you let the balance carry over to the following months bill.

Your best bet is to get two credit cards, this will help increase your credit score faster.

Sounds like you’re on the right track! Using a secured credit card is a great way to build your credit. But you might want to try an ‘unsecured’ credit card first. They actually have a wide variety of offers for people with poor / no credit– and you won’t pay a security deposit. See a complete list here:

In particular, I would highly recommend the Orchard Bank Platinum Card. It’s a very competitive ‘unsecured’ offer– plus, if you don’t qualify, Orchard will automatically offer you their secured card instead. This way, you only apply once– but can qualify for several different offers and limit the ‘credit inquiries’ on your credit report.

ALSO, if you pay your bills in full each month (before the ‘grace period’ ends) you won’t pay any interest on your charges…

Hope this helps. GOOD LUCK!
